Artwork Description:

My studio etching techniques included Intaglio, Aquatint, and Drypoint. THIS DOUBLE_PLATED ETCHING WAS ADAPTED FROM A PHOTOGRAPHIC PRINT IN THE US LIBRARY OF CONGRESS, Washington, D. C. The Collection I found it in was The Historic American Buildings Survey and Historic American Engineering Record and Historic American Landscapes survey. The building was originally constructed to house St. Andrews Protestant Episcopal Church, located at 250-254 South Eighth Street in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. I used TWO zinc plates, each measuring 5inches wide by 4r inches high, or 12.700cm by 10.160cm. The overall image size is slightly larger than 10 inches wide by 4 inches high, or 25.400cm x 10.160. The print measures 11 inches wide by 15 inches high, or 28cm x 38cm. I used BLACK Charbonnel brand oil-based etching ink on RivesBFK white paper both from France. The renowned US architect, John Haviland, designed this structure to serve as an Episcopalian church St. Andrews and was part of its congregation. Haviland was even interned there until it was sold and became the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of Saint George, when his body was moved to a divinity college. This historic building still stands on South Eighth Street as a major center for the Greek community of the City, as well as an architectural tribute to Havilands genius. This is from the first EDITION of Three ten prints each. The other two editions will be printed in different colors only ten prints per edition at a later date, possible in 2018 or 2019. KEY WORDS include JOHN HAVILAND, GREEK REVIVAL, ARCHITECTURE, COLUMNS, TEMPLE, and HISTORIC PLACES. Please note that this etching is shipped to the collector without a frame or mat. This keeps the price low and allows the collector personal choice in matt selection and framing. A sturdy cardboard box is employed for shipping the work. The etching is first wrapped in two layers of acid free glassine and then placed between two archival boards. This is next placed into the shipping carton and securely packed with bubble wrap. The Absolute Arts Dot Com price includes all handling costs, shipment supplies, and the coast of the shipment box. Mailing costs are added.
