Artwork Description:

Printmaking techniques included Intaglio, Aquatint, and Drypoint. This lyrical and mysterious etching was made with five individual zinc plates, each one requiring seven different workings in baths of Nitric acid. My inspiration originated with an antique photo, circa 1890, from the US Library of Congress, Prints and Picture Collection in Washington, DC. Each of the zinc plates in this work measures four-inches high by three inches wide 7.62cm x 10.160cm. The overall image measures 4 inches high by 15 inches wide, or 10.160cm x 38.735cm. A tiny space separates each of the plates. I used a blend of seven colored, oil based inks made in Paris and printed the works by hand on RivesBFK white paper. The print measures eleven inches high by twenty two inches wide, or 27.940cm x 55.880cm. My special techniques of ink application and wiping help to produce the mysterious effects in this etching. This is the FIRST EDITION of five prints. Please note that this etching is shipped to the buyer without a frame or mat. This keeps the price reasonable and also allows the collector a wide range of choice in framing selection. For shipment, a sturdy cardboard box is employed. The etching is first wrapped in two layers of acid free glassine and then placed between two archival boards. This is next placed into the shipping box and securely packed with bubble wrap.
