Artwork Description:
The zinc plate used for this etching measured 6 inches wide by 9 inches high, or 15.24cm by 22.86cm. The print size is 13 inches wide by 15 inches high, or about 33.020cm x 38.100cm. My studio techniques included intaglio and drypoint. The image was inspired by a Dennis Kovach photograph taken in Palermo, Sicily. The sculpture of this monk stands outside the cathedral. Five soaks in a Nitric acid bath were required to achieve my desired design. I blended three colors of oil-based etching inks and printed on a US paper called Domestic Etch. This work is from the FIRST of FOUR editions, with each edition limited to only eight etchings. This one is the 4th best print of 8. Please note that this etching is shipped to the buyer without a frame or mat. This keeps the price reasonable and also allows the collector a wide range of choice in framing selection. For shipment, a sturdy cardboard box is employed. The etching is first wrapped in two layers of acid free glassine and then placed between two archival boards. This is next placed into the shipping box and securely packed with bubble wrap. The price does not include any shipment cost.
