Artwork Description:

The title of this etching is MOSTA DOME IN PINK. The zinc plate employed for this work measured 6 inches high by 8 inches wide. The etching size is 11 inches high by 15 inches wide. The media include oil based black ink and RivesBFK white paper. The studio techniques included Aquatint, Drypoint, and Intaglio. The work required five separate baths in Nitric acid. This DiFalco etching was inspired by and adapted from a photograph taken by Dennis Kovach in Valetta, Malta. The cathedral’s magical dome is known as The Rotunda of St Marija Assunta. During the Second World War the church was nearly destroyed when an Axis bomb pierced the dome of the church, but failed to explode. Please note that this etching is shipped to the buyer without a frame or mat. This keeps the price reasonable and also allows the collector a wide range of choice in framing selection. For shipment, a sturdy cardboard box is employed. The etching is first wrapped in two layers of acid free glassine and then placed between two archival boards. This is next placed into the shipping box and securely packed with bubble wrap. The price does not include any shipment cost. Key words to search this etching include sculpture, bricks, gothic, cathedral, Palermo, Sicily, bell tower, arch, architecture, Kovach, monk, and mystical. Di Falco hand prints all editions at The Center for Works on Paper, 705 Christian Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he is a Monitor within The Open Studio In Printmaking.
