Artwork Description:

The inspiration for this Jerry DiFalco original etching originated with one of the his own photographs taken with Kodak black and white film on his Minolta 35mm camera. The etching features Pirate’s Alley in the French Quarter of New Orleans. This lanky side street, located next to the cathedral, has a history of bars, houses of prostitution, and gambling dens for Pirates. Oil base, French ink was used with RivesBFK white paper. Mulberry bark paper from Thailand, treated with methyl cellulose, was utilized in the Chine colle process. The artist’s zinc etching plate measured 6 inches high by 8 inches wide, and the frame size is eleven inches by fifteen inches. DiFalco employed the STUDIO TECHNIQUES of Aquatint, Drypoint, Chine colle, and Intaglio. The etching was hand printed by the artist in FOUR EDITIONS limited to only FIVE PRINTS PER EDITION.
