Artwork Description:
ETCHING (Chine colle; Intaglio; drypoint; aquatint)Exact Title is: DISSECTED (VIVA LA SECTION). . . OR POOR FROGGYThis etching is the first in my VIVISECTION SERIES, a group of prints whose imagery centers on designs taken from laboratory photographs of animal dissection, scientific advancement, and general torture in research settings. The etching techniques employed here include intaglio, drypoint and aquatint with a chine collé overlay (done with pink colored Thai mulberry Bark paper). I used a blend of Charbonnel brand black oil-based etching inks on Rives BFK printmaking paper (white) for this FIRST EDITION of only ten prints. The remaining two editions are limited to only ten prints each and will be executed in different colors. Size of the image (zinc plate) is five inches wide by seven inches high (13 cm x 18 cm); print size is eleven inches wide by ten inches high (28 cm x 26 cm); frame size is usually fourteen inches high by eleven inches wide (36 cm x 28 cm ), and is included in price. Shipment of work is extra.
