Artwork Description:
FULL TITLE IS The View of a Bridge from a Second Floor, SPANISH CIVIL WAR, NUMBER TWO. This prinrelates to the Spanish Civil War, 1936-1939, and is a mixed technique etching that uses dry point, intaglio, and aquatint. It depicts soldiers overlooking a view through a hole in the second floor room of a bombed building. This was based on a recently discovered photograph by Robert Capa, an artist and photojournalist who documented Spains fight against fascism and Francoist and Roman Catholic oppression. My fascination with this subject involves my belief that we are currently in a PRE civil war state similar to that of Spain in the early 1930s. I used an oil base, violet colored ink from France, Charbonnel brand, and printed on a cream colored AMERICAN MASTERS paper. The etching size is 11 inches high by 15 inches wide. I will execute a second edition of ten in another color ink and paper after the New Moon of August 2018, when I perceive the US to be ruled by a fascist who wears a bad hairdo.
