Artwork Description:

Techniques include Aquatint, Chine colle, drypoint, and intaglio. This vertically designed triptych uses three zinc etching plates. The work is executed in oil based, French etching ink from Paris, Charbonnel brand, and is printed onto British fawn colored paper, brand Stonehenge. The Moons are done in circular cut mulberry bark paper from Thailand, Unruyu brand, in the Chine colle process. Each zinc plate measured 3 inches high by 4 inches wide, or 7.6200cm x 10.160cm. The overall image, blank space in between plates included, is about 9 inches high by 4 inches wide, or 23cm by 10.160cm. The print measures about 15 inches high by 9 inches wide, or 38.100cm by 22.860cm. EDITION SIZE AND PRINT INFORMATION. This is the 4th best of 10 prints in the First Edition, as numbered in the lower left hand side of the image, 4 OVER 10 AND Roman Numeral I OVER IV. Each of the FOUR Editions contains ten prints. This image is part of my SACRED PLACES Series and is taken from an 1890 photo taken by my Italian grandfather, Giovanni. The name, LESTAT, refers to the main character in Anne Rices series of works The Vampire Chronicles. Again, my use of multiple plates enforces the visual attempt to allow the viewer to view the scenes I create as if she or he was looking though the panes of a window. Please note that this etching is shipped to the collector without a frame or mat. This keeps the price low and allows the collector personal choice in matt selection and framing. A sturdy cardboard box is employed for shipping the work. The etching is first wrapped in two layers of acid free glassine and then placed between two archival boards. This is next placed into the shipping carton and securely packed with bubble wrap. The Absolute Arts Dot Com price includes all handling costs, shipment supplies, and the coast of the shipment box. Mailing costs are added.
