NOTE THAT THIS ETCHING ARRIVES TO THE BUYER ALREADY MATTED AND FRAMED UNDER GLASS, READY TO HANG. THE 16 INCH HIGH BY 12 INCH WIDE FRAME IS WOOD AND PAINTED BLACK. THE MAT IS ACID FREE AND WHITE. This features a gargoyle over turn of the last century Paris. The artist created this at The Center for Works on Paper in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. A sturdy cardboard box is employed for shipping the work. Media used is RivesBFK white paper, black oil base ink and Thai mulberry bark paper. This work was inspired by an 1853 etching by French artist Charles Meryon, born 1821 and passed in 1868, from a portfolio entitled, “Etchings of Paris Eaux-Fortes sur Paris”. His work, entitled THE VAMPIRE or Le Stryge, is in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, H. O. Havemeyer Collection, Bequest of Mrs. H. O. Havemeyer, 1929.
