Artwork Description:

Walt Whitman was the U. S. poet of the Universal who ushered into existence a new form of democratic mysticism for the common people. His work stressed equality between the races, sexes, classes, and religions, unlike any poet in the United States before him. The artistic techniques employed include intaglio, aquatint, and drypoint. This work is presented in three very limited editions of only ten prints each, each executed in a different colors inkpaper combination. This edition of ten is executed in a two color blend, and the etching ink used was oil based, Charbonnel Brand from France. The paper is RivesBFK white. A chine colle mulberry bark overlay in lavender enhances the overall mystery of this edition. Print measures 11.25 inches high by 15 inches wide. When Whitman dies in 1892, he was interred in Harley Cemetery, Camden, New Jersey. Over 1000 people from around the world went to the grave to celebrate his life. The site is still a place where poets and artists gather to bring flowers, sip wine, and read poetry. This is a must visit place if you are ever in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, or even Atlantic City, New Jersey. Please note that this etching is shipped to the collector without a frame or mat. This keeps the price low and allows the collector personal choice in mat selection and framing. A sturdy cardboard box is employed for shipping the work. The etching is first wrapped in two layers of acid free glassine and then placed between two archival boards. This is next placed into the shipping carton and securely packed with bubble wrap. The Absolute Arts Dot Com price includes all handling costs, shipment supplies, and the cost of the shipment box. Mailing costs are added to the price.
