Artwork Description:

This architectural image is adapted from a photograph that I shot in 1987, which I then translated into three pencil drawings before beginning my etching on a zinc plate. The work features the mysterious Tower Of Mary Magdalene in the South of France. It highlights the mesmerizing magic of Rennes le Chateau, a village founded on many strange events. I employed the studio etching techniques of intaglio, aquatint, Chine colle, and drypoint. The approximate paper size is fifteen inches high by eleven inches wide. The image size, or size of the zinc plate used, is eight inches high by six inches wide. There are countless tales connected to Rennes le Chateau connected to the Cathars, the Inquisition, the Black Madonna cult, and the Holy Grail. I hand printed and published this edition, Number One of Four, at The Center for Works on Paper in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Each edition is printed in a different color ink and paper combination and is limited to only five etchings. Please note that this etching is shipped to the collector with both a frame and mat. The price also includes a professional shipment carton, all wrapping materials, handling costs, and a Certificate of Authenticity. The media includes oil base ink from France, RivesBFK white etching paper, methylcellulose, kozo threads from Japan, and Thai mulberry bark paper.
