Artwork Description:

Dream Of The Sea is one of a series of landscapes inspired by my dreams. The inscrutable workings of the subconscious provide a wealth of imagery for my work. In this series I choose dreams that have inexplicable meanings; the ambivalent nature of the imagery allows the viewer to form their own interpretation. In Dream of the Sea there is a conflicting sense of scale between the figure and the conch shells and an ambiguity in the meaning of the shells. I am interested in how this resonates with different viewers. Some collectors of my work tell me that their own interpretation changes over time the longer they own the piece.
