Artwork Description:

This etching incorporates the techniques of intaglio, drypoint, and aquatint. I used my own blend of oil based French printing inks to produce this violet, blue color and printed the work on STONEHENGE paper, color of Cream. I used two zinc plates to produce this image, and each plate measures 5 inches high by 4 inches wide, or 12.7cm x 10.1cm. The print measures 12 by 10 inches. This image, inspired by an albumin print entitled, Notre Dame de Paris, Tower with Chimeras, and created in 1865 by Viollet-le-Duc, Eugene-Emanuel, came to me in a dream before I began work on the etching. The bear, chimera, and pelican in my dream brought me with a message about immortality. I awoke before I could decipher their message, and found this image the next day in The Cornell University A. D. White Architectural Photographs Collection. The work was hand printed and published by the artist at The Center for Works on Paper in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Please note that this etching is shipped to the collector without a frame or mat. This keeps the price low and allows the collector personal choice in matt selection and framing. A sturdy cardboard box is employed for shipping the work. The etching is first wrapped in two layers of acid free glassine and then placed between two archival boards. This is next placed into the shipping carton and securely packed with bubble wrap. The Absolute Arts Dot Com price includes all handling costs, shipment supplies, and the coast of the shipment box. Mailing costs are added.
