Artwork Description:

This intaglio etching, executed on a zinc plate and etched in several Nitric acid baths, was inspired by several original drawings by DiFalco, all based on a photograph taken by his grandfather. The scene depicts the architectural elements found in New Orleans circa 1940. Di Falco used French, oil base ink--Charbonnel Brand, Paris--and printed on RivesBFK white paper. The etching plate he employed measured five inches wide by seven inches high, or 13 cm x 18 cm. The print size is eleven inches high by ten inches wide, or 28 cm x 26 cm. The frame in which it ships measures about thirteen inches high by ten inches wide. The artist used a floor model printing press made by Charles Brand of New York City. This edition, the first of four, was printed and published by the artist at The Center for Works on Paper within THE OPEN PRINTMAKING STUDIO in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, US, which is a part of The Fleisher Art School.
