Artwork Description:
This etching is based on an optical-line, ink drawing that I executed in 1971. However in this work I also combined elements of a Cuban propaganda-style billboard of Che Guevara with a Byzantine icon of Christ. The only studio ETCHING technique I used was INTAGLIO, and the work was executed in a blend of blue, oil-based French inks, Charbonnel brand, on STONEHENGE CREAM paper. The edition was printed by hand by the artist at The Center for Works on Paper at The Fleisher Art Memorial in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. This is the FIRST Edition, and each edition is limited to only Six prints. Each plate used to produce this singular, triptych-image measures 4 inches high by 3 inches wide, or 10.160 cm x 7.6200 cm, which makes the finished printed area 4 inches high by 9 inches wide, or 10.160 cm by 24.130 cm. The print size measures 8 inches high by 14 inches wide, or in centimeters 21.590 x 36.830. cm. Please note that this etching is shipped to the buyer without a frame or mat. This keeps the price low and allows the collector a range of choice in framing. For shipment, a sturdy cardboard box is employed. The etching is first wrapped in two layers of acid free glassine and then placed between two archival boards. This is next placed into the shipping box and securely packed with bubble wrap. Handling, packing materials, strong packing tape, and shipment carton are included in the price. However the price does not include shipment costs.
