Artwork Description:

Please note that this etching is shipped and sold to the buyer without a frame or mat. This keeps the price reasonable and also allows the collector a wide range of choice in framing selection. For shipment, a sturdy cardboard box is employed. The etching is first wrapped in two layers of acid free glassine and then placed between two archival boards. This is next placed into the shipping box and securely packed with bubble wrap. The price does NOT shipment costs to the collector. This double plate etching was hand printed by artist in French, oil based colored inks on RivesBFK white paper. This extremely limited SECOND edition of only FIVE original etchings represents the famous Jersey Shore Icon by the Atlantic Ocean of Lucy the Elephant in Margate, New Jersey, a place where I spent many summers in my childhood. The following quote explains that, This photo was taken by the artist in 2013. Lucy is the worlds largest elephant, and the only one in America designated as a National Historic Landmark. She was built in 1881 by James V. Lafferty, a real estate developer with a knack for promotion. Standing six stories tall, weighing 90 tons, covered with 12,000 square feet of sheet tin, Lucy was more than an object of awe. She was a functioning building, serving first as a real estate office, as a summer home, even briefly as a tavern, until unruly drunks nearly burned her down. She also gave people a reason to come to Margate City while Lafferty gave his real estate pitch. httpwww. roadsideamerica. comstory. The etching is executed on two zinc plates, each one measuring 8 inches high by 10 inches wide, or 20.320cm by 25.400cm. The image size is 16 inches high by10 inches wide. The print measures22 inches high by 15 inches wide, or 55.880 cm x 38.100 cm. This is the SECOND edition, which is limited to five prints. MY special plate rubbing techniques and ink application methods produce the shadowy play of light and dark within the print. The only studio method used in this etching was INTAGLIO. Hand-Printed by the artist at The Center for Works on Paper 705 Christian Street in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
