Artwork Description:
Title is THE MOON, THE ROSE, AND OCTOBER’S SORROW MY FUTURE’S HIDDEN FACES. Printmaking, Drypoint, Etching, Ink, Paint and Paper on Paper and Other. This original etching intaglio and drypoint was published and hand printed by the artist at The Center for Works on Paper in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania US as part of the Open Studio in Printmaking part of the Philadelphia Museum of Arts School called The Fleisher Art Memorial. I used five colors of oil-based, French inks Charbonnel brand and printed this edition First of Four on Rives BFK white paper also French. The image was adapted from a photograph I shot in Paris 1987 on The Ile de Cite. Each edition is limited to an extremely small number of only five prints each of the four editions printed in a different ink and paper color combination, so using the Chine collé method. A zinc plate, which measured eight inches high by ten inches wide, was used in conjunction with eight individual nitric acid baths. My ink application and wiping processes instill my etchings with a haunting and mysterious emotion. Keywords include star, violet, Paris, cathedral, optical illusion, Sacred Geometry, Notre Dame, rose window, architecture, hypnotic. Please note that this etching is shipped to the buyer without a frame or mat. This keeps the price reasonable and also allows the collector a wide range of choice in framing selection. For shipment, a sturdy cardboard box is employed. The etching is first wrapped in two layers of acid free glassine and then placed between two archival boards. This is next placed into the shipping box and securely packed with bubble wrap. The price does not include any shipment costs. Print size is 15 wide by 12 inches high.
