Artwork Description:
1937 Anno Domini and The Soviet Young Pioneers Trump Their Freedoms IS THE FULL TITLE FOR THIS WORK BY DIFALCO. I based this etching on a black and white print from 1937, now in the Public Domain, by Russian photographer Victor Bulla. Its title is THE PIONEERS DEFENSE. The scene depicts a panoramic view of THE YOUNG PIONEERS, a communistic version of the USSR Boy and Girl Scouts. Within two years of taking this photograph, Comrade Bulla, the photographer, was proclaimed to be an adversary of the Russian Revolution. Consequently, the poor sucker was executed for treason on TRUMP’ted up charges. This etching represents the FIRST Edition of only Four Editions of this artwork that will be created. Each edition will be restricted to only FOUR PRINTS, thereby increasing the etching’s financial and artistic values. This first edition was hand-printed by the artist in July of 2016 at The Center for Works on Paper in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania the remaining three editions will follow in the autumn of 2018 to commemorate The BIG BALLOON DIAPERED PRESIDENT AND HIS ANGELIC PAL, PUTI. Each edition will use a different color paper and ink combination. I used the studio techniques of INTAGLIO, AQUATINT, DRYPOINT, and CHINE colle. This satirical work was executed on two zinc plates.
