Artwork Description:   THIS ORIGINAL DIFALCO ETCHING IS SENT ALREADY FRAMED UNDER GLASS AND MATTED IN AN ACID FREE, WHITE MAT. THE 16 INCH HIGH BY 12 INCH WIDE FRAME IS COMPOSED OF BLACK PAINTED WOOD, AND IS WIRED AND READY TO HANG. This etching is based on DiFalcos preliminary drawings of a Romanesque Manuscript Illumination from the Walters Art Museum, in Baltimore, Maryland. DiFalco completed three pencil and ink drawings of the manuscript before executing this zinc plate etching. The artists interests in Mary Magdalene, Romanesque art, the Gnostic Gospels, and illuminated manuscripts inspired him to create this etching, which depicts Mary Magdalene informing the Apostles of her Companion’s return from death. Four editions, each one limited to only five etchings, will comprise the published portfolio. This work was executed in French, oil base etching inks on RivesBFK white paper. The image size is nine inches high by six inches wide. The framed print measures sixteen inches high by twelve inches wide. The etching was created and published at The Center for Works on Paper in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania within THE OPEN PRINTMAKING STUDIO on The Fleischer Art campus.
