Artwork Description:
The artist, Jerry Di Falco, created this etching by using six zinc plates, all placed on the pressthree above threeto produce one single image. Each plate size measured 3 inches wide, 7.6200cm, by 4 inches high, 10.160cm, and the etching plates were separated by a space of approximately one eighth of an inch. The overall image measures 9.5 inches wide by 8.25 inches high. The print size is about 15 inches high by 14 inches. The narrative scene dates from 1890 to 1901. Di Falco executed several drawings on paper in preparation for this work, which was inspired by a photograph from the Detroit Publishing Company Collection, Prints and Pictures, Library of Congress, Washington, DC, USA. Call Number LC-D4-573. The media includes a blend of four colors of etching inks from Paris. RivesBFK white paper was employed. This is the SECOND of FIVE PRINTS in this Second Edition of Three Editions. This edition was printed and published by the artist at The Center for Works on Paper in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania within THE OPEN PRINTMAKING STUDIO at Fleisher Art. Note the Second and Third Editions are limited to only five etchings and were printed in 2019. The FIRST edition of ten prints was printed in 2014. The delay relates to astral relationships between Earth and Venus.
