Artwork Description:
Very often I use separate woodblocks and print them together with different colors. The colors are selected individually, depending on my state of mind at the moment. This process is also influenced by the season of the year, the quality of daylight, sounds, and music. Prints made by this method have a very delicate and graceful structure. Beautiful colors give any space relaxing and leisurely feeling, basically because of a return to natural lines, colors and shapes. Prints are made on japanese high quality paper. The style and color gives the impression of action painting, rather than traditional graphics. Each print is slightly different, and though they resemble monotypes, they are not traditional graphic editions. The first woodblock prints were made around 1989-1990 (i. e. WINGS) as a special edition for my personal exhibition at the Museo de la Estampa in Mexico 1991. Woodblock printing has been my favorite technique for the last few years.
