  • Artists Describing Their Art:

Alexey Klimov - ARTIST STATEMENT I think that absolute freedom in art is no more than a mirage. Like a vanishing point, not only it is not achievable, but also constant strive for being totally uninhibited fundamentally contradicts the very nature of art. I discovered that by trying to free myself I instead only created un-freedom within, but at the same time I recognized it as a blessing because this un-freedom, to my great surprise, flowered into my very own freedom. I built my personal space inside it, I fenced in all I was made of and then I gladly confined myself into this space and opened all the windows to share whataEURtms inside with others. This is the moment of great joy for me because this space has never existed before I have created it. Not unlike theater, my work attempts to counterpart outside reality with no ambition to compete with it. It is just a window into my parallel world, my very own, not so little Universe. ...

Ted Schaal - Lately I have been exploring the use of two enduring materials, bronze and stainless steel. I enjoy the juxtaposition of the primitive texture in the bronze with the mirror polished modern look of the stainless. Balance and symmetry dominate simple geometric forms. These sculptures are made to last through the ages with the highest level of craftsmanship and quality metals. Most of my latest work can be scaled up for public or corporate settings and commission inquiries are welcome. With over 20 years of sculpture experience anything is possible from desk top size to monumental fountains and sculpture. ...

Youri Messen-Jaschin - Youri Messen-Jaschin is an artist of Latvian origin, he was born in Arosa-Switzerland. His artistic studies brought him to the "Ecole Superieur Nationale des Beaux-Arts". He was a pupil of professor and master Robert Cami and also attended the Hautes Etudes of the Sorbonne University, which included, History of Art, with professor Pierre Francastel from the Ecole Pratique, in Paris. From 1962 to 1965 he returned to the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Lausanne, where he worked with the engraver and painter Ernest Pizzotti. He debuted his creations at the Lausanne EXPO, in 1964 (Swiss fair), where he presented his kinetic sculptures of glass and acrylic resin. Youri was searching for new forms of art. He worked two years in "The Center of Contemporary Engraving" in Geneva. But it was in Zurich that he expanded his pictorial perspective with the experience of the circle above the face, influenced by the Swiss painter Friederick Kuhn. From 1968 to 1970, he studied at the University of Hogskolan for design & Konsthantwerk of Gothenburg, where he made kinetic objects of textiles. In 1967, he met Jesus-Rafael Soto, Carlos Cruz-Diez and Julio Le Parc during an ...
