John Searles - John Searles is a metal artist & sculptor with work in more than 2000 collections across the country, including hotels, businesses and homes. The metal wall sculptures of John Searles reflect his enduring interests in mathematical patterns, design, movement, energy and freedom and are an expression of his on-going dialogue with the metals he works with - aluminum, steel, stainless steel, copper and bronze. John Searles' background in poetry, painting and photography has heavily influenced his focus on shape and design. At times his artwork appears to depict the fluid movements of a Kung Fu master, or the flight patterns of a bird catching insects in the summer evening air. Jack Hill - All of my sculptural work is bronze, cast in the "lost wax" technique. Besides sculpting the original work, I am hands on with all the phases of the casting process, including the molds, waxes, metal, and application of the patinas. My foundry experience allows me to ensure the quality and integrity of each idea, from inspiration to final presentation. The ideas are born from observation of the human existence, in all its splendor and absurdity. The addition of my own whimsy and uncommon approach brings about an expression of life in the permanence of bronze. People are only one part of the whole planet and my anthropomorphic works are an exploration of the blending of man into various parts of the environment. With attention to anatomic detail and a tongue-in-cheek twist I wish to stimulate the imagination and, maybe, tickle the funny bone. Questions? Damon Hyldreth - Embodying the tension between stasis and impending movement, my work reflects a refined balance of positive and negative space while simultaneously existing as reductionist, self-referential form. In my artistic process of exploration, blending emotion with form, I allow the work to evolve, probing shapes, investigating their capacity to change. I seek to reveal the nature of the material, allowing it to take on a life of it's own. I'm continually looking for that special moment when a new sculpture comes to life. When I first arrive at something new, something that I sense as true, the sense of recognition I feel is like meeting a long lost friend, someone you knew long ago in a far away land, the memory of which is like smoke in a mirror. I use stainless steel, weathering steel, and bronze for their natural surface and permanence and their maintenance free ability to withstand weather extremes. When using mild steel I either leave it black and oil it, or paint it red. These materials, though different, all carry my forms well.. ...
Jane Jaskevich - Jane Jaskevich Artist Statement Jaskevich is a carver of dreams in stone. Her mythical figures borrow elements from ancient cultures. Jane creates figures by combining various materials such as different stones, wood and found objects. She pays homage to the stonesO Greco-Roman roots. Her recent series deals with the incomplete figure and is entitled OThe Silhouette Series O. Partial heads that can be read as a silhouette are combined with full bodies. These sculptures suggest multiple ideas; ancient ruin, contemporary dreams, and flat vs 3D. 2012 brought exhibitions in the NYC Affordable Art Fair and her sculptures being published in Contemporary Sculptors by Kracun/ McFadden. Numerous Southeast galleries represent her. Jane received her BFA from University of Georgia and Masters in Art from Florida State with additional studies in Pietrasanta, Italy. Her public collections include an outdoor sculpture in a Michigan church and three sculptures for NationsBank Headquarters in Tampa. Penko Platikanov - Sculpture is an act of creating art, and a philosophy on living. It is my belief that my artwork follows some means of a universal law I call "Creation and Beauty." Stated simply, there is no doubt a responsibility inherent toward created forms. It's quality, it's energy, and the messages released through my actions are expressions that I work toward being aware of. This is the first thing I concern myself with before I step into my studio and stand before the set block of clay on any given day. A quality sculpture has to be a product of spiritual, mental and technical abilities. Great works of art should possess deep roots in human spirituality, as well as depth regarding thought and feeling. Artwork can appear as fleeting inspirations or a belabored process based on the experience of the artist. In turn, if an artwork is created with the intention of lasting decades and being viewed for many generations, it has to be technologically strong and skillfully made. Paul Orzech - Paul Orzech Sculpture Studio Artist Statement: The heart of my artwork is expressed by the words "Classical form with a modern edge." As an artist, I feel the need to incorporate the classic concepts of the human figure from the Ancient Greek and Italian Renaissance periods, with the more message-oriented elements of today's art. My belief in the beauty and power of the raw human form is exquisitely celebrated in the classical forms of sculpture. Pygoya Rodney Chang-Phd - Rodney Chang, better known as the Internet's Pygoya, Webist, was the first digital artist to exhibit in Honolulu, back in 1985. He has exhibited around the world, including Paris, New York City, Chicago, Las Vegas, the U.S.S.R., England, Vienna, Budapest, Frankfurt, Australia, Seoul, Japan, China and India. His 1988 solo show at Shangahi Art Museum was China's historic first computer art exhibition. He organized India's first ever international digital art exhibition (1999). In the 1980s and 1990s he promoted his concept of Pixelism, or the conversion of pixels into paint, by hand and on canvas, to mirror (as art history) the digital quality of crude early low resolution monitor imaging. "I use the theories of color therapy, "feng shui" and "chakra energy" in my painting. The idea of making those painting is a result of long period of meditation and listening to music. Then I decided to paint with just one color according to state of mood I am, after I meditate. The aluminum is folded before I put the color on. When the painting is hanging on the wall, the color change as the light is changing during the day, the shade accentuate the color and change them to deep, darker or lighter.
