Artwork Description:

Alter was created with the energies of Martin Luther King and Mahatma Gandhi, two proactive individuals who used their inner vision and voice to create change. Alter has one hand open to be able to let go of non-life-affirming and negative emotion. The other hand is holding on to the gifts of life, experiences and people. This hand is not a fist but an open palm with fingers close together so one may hold on to gifts maintaining a grasp of possibilities and still be open to receiving new insights. Alter's eyes are white, for inner vision is critical for creating radical change outside one's self. Alter's ears are open to receive. Alter's has a candle space for one's voice, to be a guiding light to all, to remind us that radical changes can occur in our lifetime. The three tier crest represents the mind, body and soul. If space is provided for a person to sit in front of Alter they will be eye level to each other. This is great for outdoor sculpture gardens.
