Artwork Description:
Piazza del Popolo, Rome.
Inspired from a mistake. As I left Rome I was sad that I hadn't seen
S. Maria dei Miracoli and S. Maria in Montesanto.
The "twin towers" of Rome.
I was on my way to Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Moderne in Villa Borghese.
I arrived at Pizza del Popolo from Via Corse. It was hot, hot, hot.
I sat down on some stairs to the right.
Now I have found out that it was the stairs of St. Maria dei Miracoli.
My view to the left from the stairs was St. Maria in Montesanto.
In 2002 I investigated the "classic Italy",
Rome, Siena, Florence, Venice, Assisi.
This year I investigated "panoramas and Southern Italy",
l'Aquila, Sulmona, Roccaraso, Termoli, Vieste, Monte Sant Angelo, Manfredonia, Trani, Castel del Monte, Bari, Martina Franco, Alberobello, Matera, Potenza, Salerno, Napoli, Pompei and then Rome again,
The Vatican City, The Vatican Museums, The Sistine Chapel, The Vatican Basilica - Santa Pietro in Vaticano. and Tivoli with Villa d'Este and Villa Hadriana.
Rome is a butiful city with all it's historical art and architecture.
The city however needs - in my opinion - something indicating Rome is a modern city.
I have added modern art metallic sculptures
in simple shapes and bright colors,
so that there is a clear distinction between what is historical
and what is contemporary.
What you buy from me is the idea, the drafts and all my experiences
from building a huge metallic sculpture.
The sculpture is built by the buyer in the buyer's city by local entrepreneurs.
In my designs my point of departure solely has been artistically,
so in case huge technical or other difficulties arise I will make a redesign.
See organizing a sculpture project for more details.
