Artwork Description:
Creation capturing childhood in the 1800 era. Padded applique and dressmaking skills were used to create the child, sitting in front of a roaring fire, providing a real sense of the period. The density of the fire was created from scraps of fabrics, hand stitched used a tatty matting technique, providing depth in the diversity of fabrics used. The hearth in which she plays was created from a range of buttons sourced from my mam and grandmother. A bold colour palette of reds and black. From The Childhood Nostalgia range.
