Artwork Description:
My intent was to create a work where the line became the action, rather than a lines traditional function as outliner, object boundary-maker, or shading tool. I also wanted to make the piece with a single wash, in other words, within 1-2 minutes before the wet paper dried. Finally, I wanted a sense of the third dimension, laying in the background strokes first where they would become fuzzy by feathering, and lead upto the foreground sharper, more in-focus strokes as the paper dried out. A race to the finish line as dramatic in the act of painting as in the feeling of the final work.
