Artwork Description:
The End of July watercolor and gouache painting is the third painting of an ongoing series of twelve images. I grow the plants in my woodland garden. The process includes pencil studies and careful observation. I try to capture the mood of the day, the weather, atmosphere and light. Botanically correct painted plants and flowers are combined with a fluid background and a blending of the foreground, mid and far spaces. The final result captures reality and fantasy in a personal perspective. My purpose is to take a full year broken down by months reflected by nature and environment.
