  • Artists Describing Their Art:

Nicole Pereira - NICOLE PEREIRA Nicole Pereira is a young rising artist who started producing artwork at the young age of 4. Nicole noticed that she had a gift for art when her artwork was selected in her local public school and community art competitions. The local press also started raving about Nicoles work. With encouragement from her family and friends, Nicole now devotes all of her free time to paint abstract portraits that express her feelings and emotions. Originally, she started drawing realistic portraits of individuals and celebrities, but felt that she wanted to add more. By careful reinterpretation of the portrait, the use of broad brushstrokes and vivid colors, Nicole conveys her thoughts, feelings and emotion to the canvas to create unusual artwork. Nicole is just beginning to get recognition in the art world as a gifted and unique artist and her potential is unlimited....

Renata Lledias Martinez - Renata was born in Mexico City on February 8, 1966. The second of six siblings whose passion for the arts is clear and evident. As a child she felt a great love and attraction for the arts, but the fear of their parents to not be a lucrative career, would lead her to the Faculty of medicine, which would leave for marriage and motherhood. Countless changes of residence and in her life did it not continue with her career, but until the year 1998 when in Australia, had the opportunity to study and graduate in Visual Arts at the Chisholm Institute in Melbourne, under the tutelage of the South African artist David Trout, in where she gained recognition for his early work, obtaining several awards at various exhibitions including his solo exhibition, shortly before her return to Mexico. Her works are mainly figurative which lead us to a romantic almost naive dream, where his life and its internal recognition are caught between warm colours, feelings, and new experiences, that capture the viewer and transport it in her enigmatic, sensual air and with a lot of symbolic language. Her compositions speak directly to the viewer and not about angst or pain...

Dana Zivanovits - Dana Zivanovits was born in 1958 in Columbus, Ohio and received his art training from the Columbus College of Art and Design (1978 to 1982). After art school, he went abroad for a year and studied the art of the old masters in London, Paris, Madrid, Rome and Venice. Returning to his studio in Columbus to develop these influences into a new body of work, he then traveled to Mexico and studied the sculpture and painting of that country for an extended period. The unique and vivid colors of Palenque and Vera Cruz intensified his palette. After a period in Ohio, he then moved to Venice Beach, California where the brilliant light of the region reinforced his desire to capture effects of sunlight and atmosphere. Returning to Ohio in 1995, he has continued to paint themes deriving inspiration form sources such as world mythology, classic and B-grade cinema, literature and dreams. However his primary inspiration is direct observation from nature, versus an approach based in art theories or cultural critique. Dana has been widely represented by galleries and exhibition projects including Julie Rico and Mega Boom in Los Angeles, the Venice Art Detour, Around the Coyote Festival in Chicago ...

Roderick Brown - Roderick (Rod) Brown was born in Western Australia. Rod spent his first 30 years in an arid and remote gold mining town. As a youngster he remembers the great freedom he enjoyed surrounded by the stark but vivid images of the mines and surrounding bush, which he regularly explored. Rod as a child watched his father paint in oils and sketch, in charcoal and ink, portraits of local identities. The early seeds to later pursue art were sown at this time. Rod has enjoyed living with his family in Australia, Europe and the USA. During this time he has visited over 40 countries around the world enriching his life and building on the foundations acquired in his hometown, which was a very multicultural society. Rod decided to explore his artistic leanings taking up oil painting while living in Sydney. At that time Rod was a member of the Castle Hill Art Society and The Hornsby Art Society. Rod took up watercolour painting in the early 1980's, which has been his preferred medium since. Rod has exhibited at many public shows particularly while living in Sydney and has over the years painted commissioned portraits. Rod has paintings in corporate and ...

Kimberly King - Kimberly King's artworks are created within a theme of nature and ancient myth. The artworks are related everyday life and observation. Kimberly's work is a process in which an interpretation of visual language in sync with spirit takes place. ...

Sherry Harradence - Sherry M. Harradence Artist Statement: What inspires me is in the form of being challenged with Mixed Media Printmaking that uses a matrix such as plexi-glass plates, copper or blocks that produces one of a kind impressions that are most unique. Monoprint/Relief Printing has a history from as far back as the Masters, Rembrandt, Pablo Picasso, Albrecht Durer and many others. Multiple unique impressions printed from a single matrix are known as variable editions (original and ghost copies AKA). There are many techniques used in Monoprinting, including collagraph, collage, hand painted additions, and a form of tracing by which thick paint or ink are laid down on a monoprint press, registering the paper on the painted plate and passing through the press for the transferring of the paint or ink to the paper. Monoprints can also be made by altering the type, color, and viscosity of the ink or paint used to create different prints. Its a challenging medium and you are also painting in reverse. When I am pulling the first print/edition its like Christmas and cannot wait to see what is under the press blankets. My love for color is an obsession and expressed in ...

Venczak Marianna - I'm a graphic artist, illustrator and painter since 1993. Since then, I have been a Board of Presidency of the "National association of Lovers of Art". My paintings are often a mix of reality and fantasy - emotional reflections of the world surronding us: sparkles of moments I captured and embraced....

Ken Hillberry - In art and in life, dynamics of balance, integrity and tolerant interaction of all elements or participants ought to be see, experienced and maintained. At the same time, the challenge of affecting this balance is creatively encountering all changes and adapt accordingly. For some, the destination or pre-determined outcomes are sought more often than not. Then there are some who savor the journey, thus witnessing and enjoying developments along the way. I fall into the latter category. It's like watching the film develop in a darkroom. the image takes form a little at a time right before my eyes. The creative process, for me, is void of pressure and timeless. The ability and practice and discipline are central in my approach. My creative intent is to engage a viewer in thought and emotion, as well as, with their eyes. Using imagination, retrospect or model, my range of composition can be conceptual, perhaps impressionistic or abstract in application, but always developed to evoke an awareness and appreciation for the relative conditions in life experience and art form as I incisively or playfully interpret my experiences along the way. ...

Matthew Hickey - Matthew Hickey is a 38 year old artist originally from Levittown, New York. He graduated with honors from the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan in 1995. He lives and works in the northeast of England, and his work is featured in private collections worldwide.
