Artwork Description:

This portrait of the Apache leader is based on a photograph probably by C. J. Fly after his capture by a in 1886. I chose this medium Wash Drawing to emphasize the intensity of the eyes, the determined set of the forehead, the sense of reality suggested by the line of the mouth. there is overall a sense of cunning, ruthlessness and sadness. The medals on his jacket were given as tokens by the US government agents. Geronimo 1829-1909 was kept in captivity in various places, including Florida, for twenty years. matted, framed
