Artwork Description:

Stained Glass Mosaic 5 is the fifth piece in the series. The series started in 2006 with the first four pieces being completed by mid-2008. Two of the artworks in the series sold immediately. In December of 2023 I carved out some time to begin working on two new pieces using similar fabric to 2- 4. The process of designing the division of the textile with the black leading, which is hand appliqued to the surface textile, is the most creative part for me as an artist. This design ends up dictating how the intricate hand stitching will be completed in the most labor-intensive part of my process. The detail image of the back of the artwork as well as the close-up image shows the extensive stitching at its best along with the flow of colors across the textile. This artwork is designed to be displayed in either a vertical or horizontal orientation which allows for versatility in displaying the artwork spatially and visually.
