Artwork Description:
This unique work on paper is a painted etching. The work ships to buyer with both a mat and frame. This etching was made with five individual zinc plates. My inspiration originated with an antique photo circa 1890 from the US Library of Congress, Print Picture Collection in Washington, DC. Each zinc plate measured 4 inches high by 3 inches wide, and the overall image measures 4 inches high by 15 wide, or 10.160cm by 38.735cm. The print measures eleven inches high by twenty-two inches wide. The frame size is about 26 inches long by 12 inches high. My special techniques of ink application and wiping help to produce the mysterious effects in this etching. The studio techniques included intaglio, aquatint and drypoint. Media included a blend of inks and Somerset Paper, textured and cream colored, from England. The etching is enhanced by gouache and watercolors.
