Artwork Description:
This series is named Eggplants. A jewish food that the jews from Spain brought with them when they were expelled from Spain to wherever they reached. In my family's case- to Thessaloniki, Greece. My father told me that during the Holocaust this was almost the only food that was not confiscated. In order to eat them one has to get rid of the bitter juices using salt. That is the bitterness everyone hates, but it is an integrative part of the eggplant. My series is made of the bitter eggplant juice, with salt and the beautiful blue color of the Mediterranian in which so many jews drowned.
