While walking through the Bay Area beach town of Sausalito, I happened upon Oliver, a large standard poodle perched on a tiny ice cream parlor chair. “How do you get him to do that ” I asked his companions. “Oh,” one of them said, “he won’t sit on the ground. He’s afraid of being stepped on. If they’re not a chair for him, he’ll just stand there till I can find him one ” Acrylic on Masonite
