Jazz Saxophone Player is an original, signed acrylic painting on canvas by Citrus County Florida Artist Michael Arnold. This painting is of jazz saxophonist and composer Wayne Shorter. I have wanted to return to the subject of the saxophone in a painting for some time and hoped to this time include it being played. I also wanted to experiment with painting different surfaces - like metal and glass. My technique for this painting was to paint and underpainting using dark purple and white. Once I had my tones set and the underpainting completely finished. I glazed over the base painting with thin layers of paint. I used sap green, has a yellow, burnt sienna, Prussian blue and pyrrole red glazing to finish it out.
