Artwork Description:
I painted this artwork during the Iraq War, which was a very controversial war and difficult time for our country. The horrors and atrocities of war were witnessed by the world again, with many innocent people dying. The painting recalls some of the same symbols used in Guernica, the bull, spear, child, and flower. Though in this artwork the bull is screaming, a universal cry of anguish as the unthinkable is happening once again. And yet, there is a flower, the hope that at some time in the future, mankind will never engage in war as a solution to conflict.
