Artwork Description:
"Summer Friends" Oil on canvas FRAMED Original Contemporary Realism Floral Still life by Hilary J. England.
About this painting:
This painting was done in studio with two lovely fresh hybrid roses, a hot pepper, and slice of delicious watermelon. I am enchanted by the array of colors and sensory pleasure that flowers give in contrast to the oily spicy sheen of the hot pepper, and the delicate moisture of the watermelon... I arranged these "summer friends" on an old work bench, since the contrast of textures was interesting to me--the stark simplicity of the wood, and the contrasting textures of the other elements. The arrangement seemed to vibrate with color when taken in together. I utilized a limited palette of only burnt sienna, french ultramarine blue, cadmium yellow, cadmium red, alizarin crimson and white, thinned by a mixture of 1/2 and 1/2 linseed and turpentine to create this painting.
This is NOT a reproduction, but is the original work of art, 18" by 24" (painting is 21.5" x 26.5" framed), and is professional framed in a traditional gilt and linen wooden frame
