Artwork Description:
This is the second bird in a new series I'm calling "Rag Rolls". Challenged to create something new using existing materials (otherwise known as recycling) I turned in a new direction, quite literally, with my rolled paper art. I not only used cut strips of magazines, or rags to create paper spools, but I also turned those little spools onto their sides before adhering them to a background to create the finished image. The background is a beautiful piece of handmade bright yellow, textured paper. As with all my work, I use thread to secure each spool of paper which adds additional texture, as well as provides a consistent color (in this case black) throughout the piece. This art provides a one of a kind and unique way to add color and design to your home dcor.
Fun Fact: One tiny black bird is rolled up in this piece can you find it?
