Artwork Description:
.... this horrible whaling scream from ' Missy' the cat let me fly out the door.. away from painting... to the garden... something must have happened to
her, and the sound pointed to 'a bad thing'... There
she was... shoulders up and eyes wide... taking over her whole little face.... I rushed to her 'aid'.. and
.. she seemed alright... but.. what...?!.. and then I spotted it.. this little baby hummingbird..
(Colibri).. sat directly in front of her.. as if this was the place.. it wanted to be.. I scooped it up with a
swift gentle move.. heart racing.. ohh my God... Another Colibri-Baby.. Just had saved one and coaxed it back to moving.. and drinking.. when
painting with Master Artist Leo Evans a week
before.. He had spotted the little bird then and alerted me ..... 'Missy' must have grabbed this little guy of the nest..... She looked at me.. then on the ground.. appearing confused.. where is it.. what happened.. it was just here.. I placed it here for you.. a present...... she started looking around the
garden, while I checked on the little 'guy'.. so brilliant green in the sun.. his chest a beautiful
iridescent lilac... different from the magenta colored Colibris that buzzed around me in my own
backyard... I talked to him softly .. touched his neck gently.. and head... chest.. checked his tiny threadlike
feet.. while he looked at me.. and nestled comfortably.. Sigh of relief.. He was fine!!.. And
then.. A photo.. have to catch this moment..
grabbed my sidekick 2 with the right hand.. (it is always with me.. because of e-mails, calls, photos)
.. arranged to turn it to photo... all the while
balancing the left hand, so he would not get scared.. and bent down.. where the flowerpot had
this purple blossom.. asked him to just stay one second more.. and took his image..... he started to
wiggle.. and move his little wings.. looking upwards
as if ready to fly... One more.. please.!!... and a
name.. with his 'giant' appeal.. in this little 'package'... I just had to call him 'Little Leo'... one
more.. please.. and just.. when I had the camera set.. he flew with a 'giant' upsurge.. into the high
Capehorn Honeysuckle bush... So here he is.. for you to enjoy also... i checked on him .. he was there
.. on this high little branch.. and flew off with a bigger Colibri... towards the tall Evergreens long
after sunset......................
