Artwork Description:
I employed the etching technique of intaglio, dry-point, and aquatint for this work and used oil based, Charbonnel metallic ink on STONEHENGE black paper. The image is based on two original drawings I did of a press still taken to promote the 1960 Cocteau film entitled, Le testament dOrphe. Jean Cocteau, the amazing French poet and artist, directed and starred in this film, which was the last part of THE ORPHIC TRILOGY, which included the 1930 film, The Blood of a Poet, and the 1950 film, ORPHEE. The image size is 9 inches high by 6 inches wide, 22.5 cm x 15 cm, and the etching is 15 inches high by 11 inches wide, or 31.8 cm x 37.5 cm. This is from the FIRST EDITION of TWO, and each edition is limited to FIFTEEN original etchings. For personal reasons, the next EDITIONs will be printed in 2019.
