Artwork Description:
This etching used the studio techniques of intaglio, dry point, and aquatint. It is executed using a hand blended color of oil base etching inks, all Charbonnel brand from Paris, on Italian mould made grey paper called Magnani Pescia, which is from the town of Cartiera Magnani where the same papermaking mill has thrived for over 400 years. This image explores the historic, scientific, spiritual, and metaphysical aspects of the lost science, Alchemy, which gave birth to modern chemistry and physics. The image depicts a kiln like device whose original purpose is now lost.
