Artwork Description:
This original DiFalco artwork combines the genres of painting and printmaking through the employment of watercolors and gouache applied over an intaglio aquatint etching, which was executed on two zinc plates. The scene shows a back alley in 1930s New Orleans where two people meet in a secret rendezvous within the French Quarter. The etching process involved four individual Nitric acid baths for each of the two zinc plates. Media include French etching ink, RivesBFK white paper, watercolors, and gouache. Each etching plate measures 4 inches wide by 6 inches high, or 10.160cm by 15.240cm. The image size is 6 inches high by 8 inches wide, or 15.240cm by 20.320cm. The work was hand printed and published by the artist at The Center for Works on Paper in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA within The Open Studio In Printmaking at 705 Christian Street.
