Artwork Description:
The Prehistoric is a depiction of a spoonbill paddlefish. It was inspired by my many ‘snagging’ trips with my grandfather and friends over the years. This artwork was created using a method called ‘spun steel’ an old blacksmithing technique where the metal strips are heated, formed and welded in place to form the final piece. I then completed it with a patina finish, airbrushing for extra detail, to make it seem more realistic. Currently it’s mounted on driftwood, but can easily be transferred to another base.
I plan to create more water-inspired metal artwork, but am also open to creating commissioned pieces e. g., sea life or wildlife as long as it is possible to create them using one of my metal-sculpting techniques.
Note that the dimensions below are with the driftwood without the driftwood, the dimensions are 60X36X10 inches .
