Artwork Description:
The Prehistoric is a depiction of a spoonbillpaddlefish. It was inspired by my many ‘snagging’ trips with my grandfather and friends over the years. This artwork was created using a method called ‘spun steel’an old blacksmithing technique where the metal strips are heated, formed and welded in place to form the final piece. I then completed it with a patina finish, airbrushing for extra detail, to make it seem more realistic. Currently it’s mounted on driftwood, but can easily be transferred to another base. I plan to create more water-inspired metal artwork, but am also open to creating commissioned piecese. g., sea life or wildlifeas long as it is possible to create them using one of my metal-sculpting techniques. Note that the dimensions below are with the driftwoodwithout the driftwood, the dimensions are 60X36X10inches .
