Artwork Description:
Pienza is a beautiful small walled town in Tuscany Italy. Pope Pius II was born in Pienza when it was known as Corsignano and after becoming Pope he engaged Rossellino the famous Italian architect to turn his birthplace into a model Renaissance town at the centre of which is the Duomo, Palazzo and Town hall. Rossellino achieved this in 3 years. The town itself is very beautiful as are the spectacular views from its walls over the surrounding valleys. The scene I painted as people visited a small ristorante at the end of a narrow street while light spring rain was falling caught my eye. A watercolour painting of Pienza in Tuscany Italy.
