The River Shannon
The longest river in the neighboring islands it rises in the Cuilcagh Mountains. It helps make up three lakes on its journey, Lough Allen, Lough Ree and Lough Derg. Many tributaries including the rivers Inny, Brosna and the Suck join it. Many Counties and towns on route including Roscommon and particularly Limerick claim the Shannon for different reasons. ©RogerCummiskey. com
