  • Artists Describing Their Art:

Corrie Ancone - Artist statement : "I don't care for the certainty of what's in front of my lens, but the creativity, the fantasy, the invention, that can gush from a thought before or thereafter. Between the certain and the uncertain there is a possible space, as in dreams and fables. Heavily influenced by mythology, nature and the techniques and working styles of the early European Dadaists, Impressionists and Baroque artists, my creativity stems from my lust for finding and exploring sympathies between the human body, the landscape and its textures. Oscillating between transparency and opacity, colours and images collide in my work, creating new visual and emotional images, often painterly and somewhat surreal, which affect perceptions of natural reality. This is sometimes described as 'synthetic realism'." Corrie Ancone ...

Hal Studholme - Early Years I was raised by elves on the Icelandic coast. There they taught me to fish and become invisible. Some of my fondest memories are of swimming in the waters of Bluetooth Bay. They also taught me to sail, and one day while sailing a strong current pulled across the ocean and I wound up on the beach in New Jersey. Soon I landed a great job working on the Boardwalk. Later Early Years I attended college in the American Midwest, and there I learned to ice fish and command dog sleds. This little adventure inspired me to move to New York City where I started a dance company for small dogs. I built up a small nest egg and moseyed on out to southern California where I got a job as a wandering yogi. It was a period of immense change and a challenge to my very spirit. While in Los Angeles I heard that Trenton, New Jersey had become the art capital of the western hemisphere. I was not surprised. So I moved to Trenton and began my artistic studies there....

Marilyn Nosewicz - Photography, and Painting are like Magic, Joy , My Birthday, and Christmas all wrapped into one good feeling. Phillip Flockhart - STATEMENT After 50 years of image making, journeying through the Da Da, Constructivist, and Minimalist Schools 1970s-1980s I find that my work and my beliefs put me firmly in The School of Expressionism, although my continued belief in the work of Carl Jung, especially his Catalytic Exteriorisation Phenomenon adds another layer of understanding to the traditional Expressionists and places it somewhere more in the Spiritual. My art philosophy formulated over many years practice is actually always present in the content of my work, although themes come and go and reflect other areas of my life and which are influenced by the work of great artists like Kazimir Malevich, Vladimir Tatlin, Juan Gris, Kurt Switters , Marc Chagall, Robert Motherwell, Robert Rauschenberg, Andy Warhol and Joseph Beuys the themes of my art, if examined retain the content of my work which has remained as it has for 35 years now the attempt to disseminate the picture plane to see through and beyond, with colour, real time space, Collage Relief, imagery or optical device, multi point perspective and opto-kinetism, to reveal the truth that lays beyond .... I believe that this is what Marc Rothko meant when he said that his paintings ...

Anita Kovacevic - Artists statement My whole concept and approach to art is simple just as my philosophy of mind is. Im inspired by the simplest and quieter side of life, and enjoy peaceful natural escapes. My images reflect my inner vision and my floating between memories and dreams. They are simplified into a quiet and poetic understanding of life and, most of the time, displacement of species, including humans. In some of my photographs there is a certain air of sadness. My images are poetic, ethereal and sometimes mystic. I photograph from inside out. I rely on natural or minimal lighting to produce a candid style of photography. I try to lead the viewer through my visual creations on a journey of self-discovery. Im striving for beauty at its simplest. My photography is a visual poetry with a soft breath of nostalgia. Anita Kovacevic Artist ...

Satu Laurel - Sublime and the search of beauty are the main starting points of my paintings. Traditional techniques serve that idea. There is also a hint of mystical, unanswered questions and secrets. Paintings are driven from psychology and unaware, hidden thoughts. Christian themes like Creation and human-God relationship interests me. Contradictions and paradoxes are fascinating. Ugly can be seen as beautiful and old gives a birth to a young. Letting go from the usual gives freedom to see more than the present moment....
