Since my childhood, I have been in touch with the artistic environment, having spent most of my time in my father’s studio, a gifted painter. I studied Graphic Arts both in the high-school and university. I graduated in 2004 the University of Arts, and in 2006 I obtained my MA diploma in Fine Arts.
When I work I always try to have a balance between my emotional and my rational approaches. Sometimes I draw several sketches spontaneously, because this is what I feel like doing, other times I have to elaborately shape my ideas from a more consciously perspective. My drawings are a part of myself and this is the reason why I do believe that the ‘unconscious’ and the ‘subconscious’ are deeply intertwined and play a decisive role in the process of creation.
As a technique, I use the ink on paper. I choose carefully the sort of paper either finer or more textured depending on my next piece of work. I like the contrast between black and white because it is strong and eloquent, capable of captivating the onlooker. Sometimes I use a certain colour for its symbolism, for emphasizing a state of mind, a feeling. I focus on the way I organize different types of dots, lines and shapes in creating artistic structures. I consider the line as the main means of communication and expression owing to its significance. I frequently use curbed lines for conferring dynamism and rhythm on my works.
The symmetry, asymmetry, rhythm and balance are the means of artistic expression I use in trying to create a surrealist space where for the present moment the feminine image prevails. Through my work I attempt to reveal to the onlookers, another world, ideal, which could interact with theirs and convey a sensation of beauty, charm and relaxation. The flight from reality through art represents a pleasant and fascinating experience.
