Artist Statement:
My love of painting has been with me since early childhood. I have always appreciated and am greatly influenced by the craftsmanship of the processes of the Old Masters in the Gothic and Renaissance periods.
My paintings, although figurative, are composed in very much the same manner as that of an abstract work: form and color are my primary interest. When I begin a painting I donot have a preconceived idea in my mind; I use the figures to create a vibrant nucleus and the emergence of the final piece, you could say, is a product of the subconscious journey.
My paintings do not depict a defined age or period; nor do they reflect the past or present. The figures in my works are in a state of introspection, detached and isolated from their surroundings.
I love to play with unbalanced and, at times, absurd compositions in order to contrast the meticulous and detailed way in which I paint....
