Artist Statement:
These four works represent a style of work I have been developing for the past four years. I am attracted to woodcuts and the relief printing process because of the expressive quality of shapes and texture which can be produced by the wood. I enjoy the reduction woodcut because it is a particularly challenging technique, requiring a balance of forethought and instinct to develop the image.
I continue to work independently and as a student at Santa Monica College. Most recently I have been working with collagraphs, which is a printmaking technique (either relief or intaglio) where the plate is made of cardboard and other materials at hand. I don't have room for images here in my free gallery, but you can find more of my images at my website: www.antimodal.com/gallery
